Department officials said that state will receive rains from July 11-14 if the system matures in Bay of Bengal.

"Besides, western disturbance prevailing over Pakistan will bring moisture from Arabian Sea to south west MP. This will cause moderate to light rains at isolated places in Indore and Ujjain division in next 24 to 48 hours," department regional head Anupam Kashyapi told HT over phone from Bhopal. In rest of MP, there will be light rains at isolated places.

The moisture incursion from Arabian Sea through winds will bring down day temperature by two to three degrees Celsius which in turn will reduce water evaporation from soil.

Indore has not received rains in last 10 days. According to local weather bureau, Indore received less than normal rains in first week of this month. But it is likely to cover the lost ground through rains that are expected to occur later this month.

Winds blew from south and southwest for most part of day attaining maximum speed of 48 kilometres an hour. Morning and evening humidity was 77% and 58% respectively.
