Devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesh with loud chants of ‘Ganpati bappa morya’ on the occasion of Anant Chaturthi, the tenth day of Ganesh Chaturthi festival, on Thursday.

Several processions with drum rolls, bhajans, music and dance for the immersions of Ganesh idols were taken out throughout the city since morning. To spread the message of ‘eco-friendly’ festival, many devottees immersed the idols in makeshift water vessels.
The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) took the lead to make the festival an eco-friendly affair. It put up 60 artificial ponds t 60 spots in the city for the immersion.
Ganpati idol of Malwa Ganesh Mandal in Palda area received a special farewell as it headed for its immersion in Mumbai. The idol was taken out on Thursday morning by a group of devotees who will immerse the idol in Arabian Sea on Friday with all rituals.
In the evening, people enjoyed tableau procession that took place in old city area. A number of mills, IMC and Indore Development Authority took out their tableau based on different themes. While some chose to keep a mythological theme of showing Rukmani’s abduction by Lord Krishna or the killing of Mahishasur by Goddess Durga, others opted for ‘Swachh Bharat’ as their theme.
