Indore: Six minors beat up guard, escape from correctional facility

Six minor inmates fled a juvenile correctional facility in Indore after thrashing the security guard on Sunday afternoon. Three of those who escaped returned to the facility on Sunday, while search for the remaining escapees is still on.

The children who fled from the correctional facility are residents of Kulkuarni Ka Bhatta, Moosakhedi, Janata Quarter, Rewa and Rajendra Nagar and were charged under the Arms Act and for theft, according to the police.

As per the information, the inmates scaled a wall and jumped over the roof of the correctional facility in Pardesipura area under Hira Nagar police station.

“Three of them returned to correctional house on Sunday. We are searching for the rest of them,” said town inspector Hira Nagar Shashi Kant Chaurasia, while speaking with HT.

On Sunday afternoon, the six inmates attacked guard Kashi Prasad Sakya, 55, with wooden sticks and locked him inside a room at the centre. They then proceeded to climb onto the roof, from where they fled away.

After the correctional facility staff failed to nab the remaining inmates over the next 48 hours, a complaint was lodged at the Hira Nagar police station on Tuesday.
