Lawyer shot dead in Mhow; advocates in Indore to strike work today

He was first rushed to a private hospital near Mhow, and then taken to Gokuldas Hospital in Indore, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Lawyers of District Court and High Court have called for a day’s strike to protest against the murder and demanded speedy arrest of the accused.

Additional SP (Mhow) Arvind Tiwari said the shooting took place moments after Garg came out of his office situated in Sanghi Street at around 11.30 pm.

He was walking towards his car parked in front of Lakhsminarayan temple when a black Pulsar motorcycle stopped near him and the person riding pillion fired two bullets on Garg.

One hit his chest while the other bullet pierced his neck, and he collapsed on the spot. Some other advocates who were standing nearby first rushed him to Mewara Hospital in Kishanganj.

On finding the case to be critical, the doctors there referred him to Gokuldas Hospital in Indore where he died during treatment at about 1am.

Police sources said Garg was a criminal laywer and also dealt in disputed properties, and he might have made personal enemies due to his property deals.
