Putting up two traps with a goat and dog to catch the leopard couple, one of the traps has been kept in the sugarcane farm at Makadkheda village from where the cubs were recovered.

“The area has huge sugarcane farms instead of jungle area. This is dangerous in the sense as it is ideally not the habitat of a leopard. Plus it has a considerable amount of human habitation as well,” said Pankaj Shrivastava, chief conservator of forest, Khargone, (circle).

Mentioning that a rescue team from Indore arrived on Tuesday only to look into the entire matter, Shrivastava said that the villagers have been put on alert. “The department has put up adequate force to ensure that no attacks take place by leopards in the area,” he said.
