He has been identified as Radha Kishan Jaiswal. In fact, Jaiswal surrendered before the police on Monday and eased things for the police who had been under pressure to arrest him even since he slapped additional municipal commissioner Rohan Saxena.

Saxena had come to Radisson Square to resolve the issue, but talks snowballed into a fiery argument between the residents and corporation staffers which led to the incident.

Six people including the BJP corporator Saroj Chouhan and her husband Raghvendra were arrested on the complaint of Saxena on the day the incident.

Later, other BJP corporators claimed that the arrests reflected arbitrariness of the police department. A senior BJP leader said the person who slapped the officer should be arrested not the corporator and his husband.

BJP forms panel to probe service road closure

Senior BJP leaders have decided to form a two-member fact-finding panel to probe the dispute regarding sealing of a service road near Radisson Blu Hotel that resulted in additional municipal commissioner Rohan Saxena being manhandled by a supporter of woman BJP corporator Saroj Chouhan.

A five-member committee will also be formed to look after IMC’s operation. Senior BJP leader and former city mayor Krishna Murari Moghe and city BJP president Kamlesh Sharma will look into the details of the incident and submit a report to chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

This has come as a shock to currently serving mayor Malini Gaud, who otherwise has sole authority over IMC’s affairs. Senior leaders say the decision has been taken to silence corporators and BJP members accusing Gaud of being autocratic regarding IMC’s operations.

Admin, police should have consulted us: BJP

The local BJP unit is miffed over the fact that the police arrested woman party corporator Saroj Chouhan and four others on complaint filed by Indore Municipal Corporation despite the party governing the state and the Corporation.

“Administration and police should have consulted us before taking this step. The woman corporator has no criminal background. How could she be picked up at night and jailed?,” city BJP president Kailash Sharma told HT.
