MP: 18 rail technical staff leave for Kanpur to assist investigation

Railway sources said the technical staff, who left for Kanpur in Malwa Express, will assist in the investigation.

Indore-Patna Express runs under Ratlam division and it originates from Indore. This is why its maintenance work is also done in Indore before the train is released for run. On Saturday afternoon, technical staff of local service depot had given green signal to the ill-fated train, which derailed in Kanpur on Sunday.

After the incident, the divisional railway manager (DRM), Ratlam division, held a video conference with local railway officials on Sunday night, immediately after accident, and demanded all records pertaining to the train’s maintenance. One of the technical staff, wishing anonymity, said that the train was in perfect condition when it was given a green signal at the local depot and it may have developed some technical snag during the run.
