MP: CBI gives clean chit to Dhruv Narayan in Shehla murder case

The Central Bureau of Investigation gave a clean chit to former BJP MLA Dhruv Narayan Singh in the murder case of RTI activist Shehla Masood. She was shot dead in Bhopal.

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Saturday gave a clean chit to former BJP MLA Dhruv Narayan Singh in the murder of RTI activist Shehla Masood.

Advocate Sunil Shrivastava, who represents one of the five accused, Saba Farooqi, said, "The clean chit has been given to Singh due to lack of evidence against him."

Earlier in May 2012, the investigating agency had said that Singh was not directly involved in the murder, but stressed on the need for further investigation as Shehla’s purported closeness with Singh was said to have prompted Bhopal-based architect Zahida Parvez to order her killing.

On Saturday, all five accused in the case, Zahida, Saba Farooqui, Shaquib Danger, Tabish and Irfan were produced in the court.

In its 18-page chargesheet filed in the CBI court, Zahida has been named as the prime accused along with the four others and charged with murder.

Advocate Shrivastava said the court accepted Irfan's application to become an approver. It will hear arguments in the next hearing on September 25.

Zahida, Shaquib and Saba had been arrested after the CBI scrutinized call details generated from a tower in posh Koh-e-Fiza area of Bhopal where Shehla was shot dead outside her house on August 16, 2011.
