Generally, monsoon withdraws in Malwa-Nimad region between September 15 and 25.

The occurrence of early morning dew on plants and flowering of grass are an indication of monsoon withdrawal in the region. “Both symptoms are visible,” Indore tehsil farmer Kanchan Singh Chouhan said.

The meteorological department, on other hand, is yet to predict the date for monsoon withdrawal.

“Wait for a week more for declaration,” meteorologist SK Dey said over phone from Bhopal.

Indore had received 811.7 mm (31.95 inch) of rains till September 2. This was higher than 705 mm (27.55 inch) of rains which the city receives in the same period.

The department predicted occurrence of partly cloudy sky in next 24 hours ending on Thursday noon, though sun will peak at frequent intervals. The department’s regional head Anupam Kashyapi said mild rains may occur in south-west Madhya Pradesh accompanied by thunder.

Indore’s maximum temperature hovered around 32 degrees Celsius, which was normal.

The minimum at 22 degrees Celsius was normal. Westerly winds blew at maximum speed of 20 km an hour.
