Moving a step forward towards promotion of e-governance, the Madhya Pradesh government is planning to develop e-Nagarpalika platforms in 388 urban local bodies (ULBs) across the state.

Moving a step forward towards promotion of e-governance, the Madhya Pradesh government is planning to develop e-Nagarpalika platforms in 388 urban local bodies (ULBs) across the state.

Through e-Nagarpalika platform, the government intends to digitize all the records available at ULBs, better internal work process and bring in transparency.

The state government has tied up with a US-based company (UST Global) for the implementation of the programme and will be spending about Rs 250 crores on the project in the course of one year.

“In the first phase of the programme, seven out of 388 ULBs in the state will be completely digitized by April this year,” said Amit Charuka, the company’s operations head for the programme in the state.

Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Satna, Hoshangabad, Budhni and Berasia were selected for the pilot project.

We will be required to digitize at least three-four crore documents in next one year, he said adding that an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software will be introduced in the governing bodies for management of workflow in the organisation.

ERP is a business management software, a set of integrated applications, that can be used for collection, storing, managing and interpreting data from various operations of an organisation, explained Charuka.

The employees of the ULBs will also be given training on the software for conducting day-to-day operations.

Having being selected for the first phase of Smart City project, the e-Nagarpalika platform will be an advantage for Indore Municipal Corporation. Right from the birth and death certificates, to automated building plan approval system, everything will be put online, he said.
