A Kota-based stone trader’s 19-year-old son, who was allegedly abducted for ransom, was found murdered on Thursday, police said.

The police said the mother of the deceased, Vishal Mewara, lodged a missing person’s report at Borkhera police station on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old, a second-year student at the government polytechnic college, belongs to Khairabad region of Kota, and was staying at a rented accommodation in Aakash Nagar area of Kota city for last one year for his studies.

Circle inspector of Borkhera police station Lokendra Singh Paliwal said Vishal’s father, Banwari Mewara (48), informed the police that someone had called him and demanded Rs 15 lakh ransom for releasing his son. The abductors had asked the family not to inform the police and deliver the ransom at 4 pm on Thursday.

When the Borkhera police were searching for the abducted student, his body was found in a village in Notana district, around 20 km from the city.

Later, the police called the family of the deceased for identification. The body was then sent for autopsy and later handed over to the family.

The boy’s face had been crushed and throat slit which indicates that the accused had tried to destroy the identity of the deceased.

Police registered a case under section 364A (abduction) and 302 of IPC for murder.
