Interior Design Ideas to Make the Most of Small Houses

Amit Jangid, Founder of Breathing Walls, Interior Design Studio shared with HT Lifestyle five amazing interior design ideas for small houses.

1. Multipurpose furniture

Every piece of furniture in a tiny house should have multiple uses. Furniture with several uses is a need for maximising available space. Make an investment in furnishings such as folding dining which looks like decorative panels, wall-mounted beds, folding study tables and various other multi-purpose furniture. These pieces improve daily living while conserving valuable square footage. Moreover, furniture including concealed storage spaces may maintain a clutter-free tiny house by making sure that everything has a place.

2. Smart lighting

In a small house, well-placed lighting can create an illusion of enhancing the room space. A well-lit and aesthetically pleasing space can be achieved by combining ambient, task, and accent lighting. For more floor and table space, think about installing wall sconces and pendant lights. You may also modify the lighting to suit your needs and mood by using dimmer switches.

3. Sliding glass doors

Light colours can provide an airier, more open feeling in a small room. Choose a subdued colour scheme for your walls, furnishings, and décor. Pastel colours, whites, and soft greys can all give the impression of a larger space. Mirrors that are positioned well can also reflect light and give the impression that the space is larger. To get this impression, think about hanging ornamental mirrors or using reflected furniture.

5. Open shelves

Adopt a minimalist style for your little space's interior decor. Open shelving and an emphasis on necessities will help you reduce clutter. Decorative and practical, open shelves may showcase your most cherished books, dishes, or trinkets while freeing up valuable counter and cupboard space. To create the illusion of more space, choose furniture with clean lines and keep the decor basic and uncluttered.
