The Brunch round-up: The week and how it made us feel
  • Wagging our tails
Dog dad Glen Powell is cute. His pupper, Brisket is even cuter. Powell adopted Brisket a year ago and the two have been regulars on the red carpet since. Everybody’s smitten. Brisket even has his own Instagram handle ( @hotbrisket) with some 40K followers. It doesn’t hurt that Powell makes a (shirtless) appearance every now and then. Don’t step on the drool.
  • Second-glancing
Are we surprised that there’s a Facebook group for people who sort of look like Adam Sandler? Are we surprised that it has more than 100K followers and dozens of doppelgangers? Are we surprised that some of these men are even proud of it? Do we want Adam Sandler to make Murder Mystery 3? No. No. No. And No.
  • Taking a puff
Eddie Murphy, the voice of Donkey in the Shrek series, confirmed that there’s a Donkey movie in the works. It will be about Donkey’s smoking-hot dragon wife Elizabeth and their brood of dronkeys. In Shrek 2, Donkey was worried whether his kids would be cute or would make people uncomfortable. We just hope they have his sense of humour.
  • Lashing out
Gigantic, luxurious anime lashes are trending. These are eyelash extensions that fringe your eyes and supposedly make you look like an anime heroine. Some are so long, they often need a little comb to detangle. Nearly all of them make it seem like spiders sitting on human eyes. Not a good look, actually. We’ll pass.
  • Running with knives
Cake knives. But you get the sentiment. Enough on those “Is this cake?” videos all over our feed. Bakers need to stop trying to mimic toilet rolls, hammers, severed hands (seriously!) and microwave (no, seriously!) with cake. It’s more annoying that those Turkish ice-cream pranks. Is anything safe? Is anything sacred? Nope, it’s cake.
  • Giving the side eye
People in Stockton, California have some answering to do. The city held a splash fest that was an official attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest water balloon fight. The goal was to have 10,000 people throwing 209,000 water balloons. They managed to unleash 2,02,400 and drew about 3,000 people. Pfffft amateurs. Someone ask them to come down for Holi; we’ll show them how to break a record.
