Lok Sabha 2019 constituency: Left bastion of West Bengal’s Asansol is held by BJP

This time, the ruling party in the state has nominated actor-turned-politician Moon Moon Sen to contest from the Asansol seat, located in the second largest city of the same name after Kolkata. It was once dominated by the Communist Party of India(Marxist).

The BJP’s Babul Supriyo defeated Dola Sen of the Trinamool Congress in Asansol, the parliamentary constituency number 40. Supriyo is the minister of state for heavy industries and public enterprises in the NDA government.

Voting will be held in Asansol, known for its steel and coal industries, on April 29 in the fourth phase of the seven-phase polls in the state, and counting on May 23.
