Many candidates in the poll fray from the twin parliamentary constituencies of Allahabad and Phulpur this time have a poor educational background. Interestingly, the Allahabad seat has attracted more such candidates than Phulpur.
For instance, Bhawani Maa, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Allahabad seat and the only transgender candidate in the poll fray in Uttar Pradesh, is ‘illiterate’, as per the affidavit filed by her, while Ram Lakhan Chaurasiya of Moulik Adhikar Party in fray from Phulpur is just ‘Literate’. Even Om Guru Charandas of Sanatan Sanskriti Raksha Dal is just high school pass. He cleared Class 10 from UP Board in 1989.
Ram Pal Gupta of Parivartan Samaj Party, also in fray from Allahabad seat, is also Class 10 pass.
Four other candidates, including one from Phulpur and three from the Allahabad seat, respectively, on the other hand are just Class 12 pass. These include Ajeet Kumar Patel of Pragatisheel Samaj Party and Shiv Dutt Shukla of Annadata Party, both in the fight from the Allahabad Lok Sabha constituency. Besides, Sunil Kumar Maurya of Pragatisheel Samaj Party from Phulpur is Class 12 pass. Even Yogesh Shukla, the Congress candidate from Allahabad is Class 12 pass and has given BSc-I pass in 1987 from Allahabad University as his highest qualification.

{{/usCountry}}No less impressive is Sanjeev Kumar Mishra of Yuva Vikas Party who is contesting from Phulpur. He has double MA degrees including an MA (English) which he earned in 1999 and a MA (Economics) which he completed in 2001, both from the Allahabad University.
Five candidates trying their luck this time, have LLB degrees. This includes Girdhar Gopal Tripathi of CPI in fight for the Allahabad seat, who completed LLB from AU in 1969 but also has a MA degree from AU which he got in 1962.
