Birendra Kumar Choudhary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, defeating Mangani Lal Mandal of the Rashtriya Janata Dal by more than 55.000 votes.

There were 1,650,753 electorate in the Jhanjharpur Lok Sabha Constituency in the 2014 elections, out of which 884,884 are male and the remaining 765,869 are female.

According to the estimates of the 2011 census, out of total 2,05,520 population, there were 1,06,180 males and 99,340 females in Jhanjharpur taluk.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections was 57.02%.
