Guard of a plywood factory owner’s under-construction house here on posh Wazir Hasan road, was allegedly murdered by unknown assailants on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. His body bearing injury marks on face and head was found lying on the cot at the underconstruction site on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mohd Raees (45), who was employed as guard at the underconstruction house of one Ajai Kumar Gupta for the past few months. Gupta owns the plywood factory in Aishbagh.

The incident came to light when labourers working at the site turned up for the work on Wednesday morning and found the guard’s body lying on the bed. They informed Gupta, who then rushed to the spot and informed the police about the incident. Gupta told the cops that the assailants had apparently murdered the guard while he was sleeping by attacking him with a heavy and blunt object on his head and face. He has lodged an FIR of murder against unknown assailants with the Hazratganj police.

Yadav said the assailants even put a blanket over the body to pose as if the guard was sleeping. He suspected that the assailants must be known to the guard, as he usually used to lock the main entrance gate from inside but it was found open. He said the labourers working at the site are being quizzed about people coming to meet the guard. He added an electronic surveillance team is also scanning the guard’s mobile call records.

He said the guard’s family members have also been informed about the incident and the body has been sent for post-mortem.
