Aadhaar card will be a must for IIT JEE from 2017

A circular released on the official website says that at the time of registration candidates will have to enter their Aadhaar number, name, date of birth and gender which will be validated with the UIDAI’s data.

Registration for candidates applying for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2017 will start from December 1 this year. Also, officials from the Joint Admission Board (JAB) have said that candidates need to have their Aadhaar cards to be eligible to take the exam from this year onwards. The JEE (Main) exam will be conducted across the country on April 2, 2017.

In case these particulars do not match, the candidate will not be able to fill the application form for JEE (Main) 2017.

“Candidates are advised to ensure that their Aadhaar card has correct details, as per school records. If there is some mismatch in these details, the candidates should immediately get it corrected in Aadhaar data or their respective school records,” states the circular, which is now available on www.jeemain.nic.in.

Earlier this year, the Human Resource Development ministry made it clear that from 2017 onwards, Class 12 marks will not be a factor for determining the rankings in JEE for admissions to undergraduate engineering courses. The decision was taken by the ministry after a committee set up by the IIT Council submitted recommendations on changes to JEE pattern.

The online application process will start from December, 1, 2016 onwards. The last date for application is January 2, 2017. The fee can be paid up to January 3, 2017.
