Bollywood superstar Dilip Kumar was discharged from Lilavati hospital on Thursday afternoon. The 93-year-old actor, recuperating from his deep vein thrombosis (DVT), was shifted out of the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital to a general ward three days ago. DVT is a condition wherein blood clots form in one or more veins in the body.

Dr V Shankaran, CEO of the hospital said the actor is doing well and is absolutely fit. “He responded very well to the treatment and thus was shifted out of the ICU. The doctors, pronouncing him fit to go home decided to discharge him on Thursday,” said Shankaran.
The actor was admitted to the hospital on December 6. Doctors immediately administered Heparin to him on the night he was admitted and said he responded well to the treatment.
Kumar, also celebrated his 93rd birthday on Sunday with his wife Saira Banu and thanked all his well wishers through Twitter.
