The anti-narcotics cell of the Mumbai crime branch arrested five college students from Mumbai with Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) worth Rs70 lakh.

The accused, all in their early twenties, are allegedly dealers. The police suspect that they used to target students.
Acting on information received by DCP Shivdeep Lande, the chief of the cell, a trap was laid by a team from the Kandivli unit. The five were found carrying drugs in commercial quantity — worth Rs70 lakh. They were booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The accused will be produced before the Esplanade court on Wednesday afternoon. The anti-narcotics cell will seek their custody to investigate the involvement of a larger racket. “If convicted, the accused will get a prison term, could go well over a decade,” said a source from the anti-narcotics cell.
