In Bandra, reason to rhyme at a poetry and lit fest

The first edition of the Le Sutra festival will host young writers, poets in academia and filmmakers.

It’s the first edition of the Le Sutra Bandra Poetry and Literature Festival, and they’re starting with a bang. Fifty young award-winning poets will explore subjects such as gender disparity and mental wellness over three days.

The festival that began on Friday aims to build a repository for emerging and established poets by inviting them both to discuss issues relating to the youth.

The festival will host fun poetry workshops and a poetry and jazz evening among other events. “We also have a transatlantic event on the last day of the festival, in which Indians poets living in the US will read their poetry on video chat,” says Jennifer Robertson, curator.

“In another event, poets in academia such as Sharmistha Mohanty, Vivek Narayanan, Ranjani Murali, Aishwarya Iyer and Nandini Dhar will engage in a lively discourse on poetry.”

You can also discuss climate change with Chintan Girish Modi, a freelance researcher, learn how to write poetry, discover new ways of appreciating poems and lost literature by women. Plus, there will be a cheeky Terribly Tiny Roast with Chintan Ruparel, co-founder of TTT.
