Mumbai police bust sex racket, rescue two women from West Bengal

Mumbai city news: The women have been sent to a shelter home for rehabilitation.

The Social Service Branch (SS Branch) of the Mumbai crime branch busted a sex racket being run under the guise of an escort service and rescued two women in their early 20s, who were brought to the city from West Bengal.

The SS Branch conducted a decoy operation, acting on a tip-off that a sex racket was being run under the guise of an escort service using a website to reach out to potential clients.

A decoy customer called on one of the given numbers. The pimps sent photos of women to choose from, and a deal was struck.

The pimps asked the customer to meet them on a road near Mahakali caves in Andheri (East).

The two pimps arrived in a Swift car and a bike.

A team led by senior police inspector, SS Branch, Ravindra Gidde and inspector Pravin Kadam laid a trap.

Once the pimps accepted the money and brought the two women to the spot, the team arrested them.

They have been booked under Section 370 (3) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for abducting and trafficking a person and under various sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
