The Thane police have for the first time organised a marathon for police officers, constables and their families in Thane on November 27. The marathon will start around 5am from Harmis garden and culminate at Hiranandani in Thane.
Rashmi Karandikar, deputy commissioner of police, headquarters 1, Thane, said, “The participants have been training for the marathon from the past four months.”
“So far, we have 3,500 registrations and more are likely to take part. A woman constable from Kolhapur, Jayshree Borge, 26, will also take part in the marathon. She has won many marathons at the state and national-level,” said Karandikar.
The marathon will be held in association with Pinakthon. It will comprise three categories 5 kilometres, 10 kilometres and 21 kilometres.
