Year after man found hanging, wife booked for murder

After Vinayak was found dead, his mother approached the court and after a year, the court has ordered to lodge a murder case

A 34-year-old private bank employee has been booked for allegedly murdering her husband over property issues and in pursuit to marry another man.

On April 16, 2017, Vinayak Londhe, 34, was found hanging from the ceiling of his ground floor house at N G residency in Kapurbawdi, Thane.

The Kapurbawdi police then registered an accidental death report in the case and started a probe.

“Vinayak and Poonam got married in 2012. Vinayak used to work at a private firm and had a good salary while Poonam used to work in a private bank. After marriage, Vinayak resigned from his job and began his own business, which did not work out”, said a police officer from Kapurbawdi police station.The couple were repaying the loan of their house and car, which lead to a problem between them.

Vinayak’s mother used to hear their arguments.

“After Vinayak was found dead, his mother approached the court and after a year, the court has ordered to lodge a murder case. We have booked Poonam but not arrested her. If she is found guilty, we will arrest her,” added officer.

“The case was lodged on Monday and further investigations are on. Neighbours told us that the couple used to argue and fight at times. We are investigating the case and will also record their statements,” the officer added.
