Man arrested for breaking into Railway cop’s house

A 27-year-old arrested in connection with a robbery at a Government Railway Police constable’s Ghatkopar house is suspected to have broken into another constable’s house in the same area in 2008.

A 27-year-old arrested in connection with a robbery at a Government Railway Police constable’s Ghatkopar house is suspected to have broken into another constable’s house in the same area in 2008.

The Pant Nagar police arrested Shirya Khaire alias Shrikanth on Wednesday for breaking into a constable’s house in railway quarters building number 17 and stealing gold jewellery, a DVD player and cash totaling worth Rs 1.15 lakh.

“Shirya has 12 house break-in cases registered against him in various police stations in the central suburbs, including Vikhroli and Ghatkopar. He has been in jail for a year in a house break-in case and was released last month,” said an officer from the Pant Nagar police station, on condition of anonymity.

The officer added that they suspect that he might be involved in several house break-in cases registered by policemen. As Shirya’s police custody ended on Thursday, the local court extended his custody until September 28.
