In yet another incident at what has now become a suicide spot in Mumbai, an unidentified man in his late 20s jumped off the Bandra-Worli sea link on Saturday.

In yet another incident at what has now become a suicide spot in Mumbai, an unidentified man in his late 20s jumped off the Bandra-Worli sea link on Saturday. The police had not recovered the body till the time of going to press in an extensive search operation being conducted by the Worli police and the fire brigade.

“The man took a cab from Byculla, Khada Parsi junction, around 2:10am and asked the driver to take him to Bandra via the sea link. At 2:30am, they reached the Worli-end of the sea link, where the man asked the cab driver to stop, claiming his monkey cap had fallen out,” said Jayandra Sawant, police inspector, Worli police station.

“After picking up his cap, he walked back to the cab, but pretended to vomit and ran away again. He approached the boundary railing, gesturing he wanted to vomit into the sea. But as soon as he reached the railing, he jumped over it,” Sawant said.

The police have recorded a detailed statement of the 40-year-old taxi driver Mohammad Nabi Nazar Allah Khan.

“We are searching for the body. He left nothing in the cab,” said another police official.

The Worli police have asked the other police stations to look into missing complaints.
