The medical reports of the 34-year-old woman from Santacruz (West), who was reportedly raped by two men, after being served a spiked drink, have confirmed that the victim was raped.
The Santacruz police have formed a team to trace the accused.
The men were well known to the victim and her family.
"On Friday, the two men came to the victim and offered her to join them at a local shop where they said they would have soft drinks," said senior police inspector Madhukar Choudhary of the Santacruz police station. The victim, who is the mother of two — aged seven and 14 years — accompanied the accused.
"The two men ordered for a soft drink for the victim and without her knowledge spiked it with alcohol. After the victim consumed the drink, the two men took her to an unoccupied shanty in their locality and raped her," added Choudhary.
After committing the crime, the men fled from the spot. When the victim’s children could not find their mother at home they started searching for her and found her in the shanty in a semi conscious state. The children then with the help of the neighbours brought their mother home and informed their father, a painter, about the incident. "The victim’s husband lodged a complaint with us on Friday," said a police official of the Santacruz police station.
