Chris Brown and Major Lazer to perform at IPL opening ceremony

Indian artists like Ranveer Singh, Jacqueline Fernandes, Katrina Kaif and Yo Yo Honey Singh will also perform at the April 8 event.

This is your chance people, don’t say that you missed it when it’s too late. American singer Chris Brown, best known for his hit tracks ‘Loyal’ and ‘With You’, is going to perform at the opening of 9th edition of Indian Premiere League (IPL).

American dancehall reggae trio Major Lazer along with English rapper Fuse ODG and Jamaican-American recording artist Nailah Thorbourne will join Brown, 26, at NSCI Dome on April 8.

Major Lazer’s song ‘Lean On’ was a worldwide hit last year. The music video was flooded with Indian elements and was also shot here.

“We are very excited to perform in India for the very first time... Looking forward to a crazy night of mayhem and meeting all my beautiful people in India,” Brown said in a statement.

Indian artists like Ranveer Singh, Jacqueline Fernandes, Katrina Kaif and Yo Yo Honey Singh will also perform at the event. Ranveer said his performance will be a tribute to the spirit of cricket.

“My act will honour the spirit of cricket and victory. I want to dedicate this performance to all the cricket fans across the world,” he said.

Mumbai Indians will put the trophy back in play, signaling the start of the 2016 season of the competition.

The ceremony will be telecast live in 32 countries on Sony Max and Sony Six from 7:30pm onwards.
