Ghulam Ali’s son Aamir Ali has confirmed that his father will perform at the annual fest, the district administration stated in a release. The district administration also claimed to have received an official note from Aamir further authenticating his father’s performance at the Mahotsav. “On an official letter head, Ghulam Ali sahab’s son Aamir has forwarded the confirmation about his performance on December 3rd to the district administration,” said district magistrate, Raj Shekhar.

“First of all, thank you inviting us for the mahotsav 2015. This is to confirm that our date December 3rd is available and it’s a pleasure to perform for the grand Lucknow Mahotsav, as per terms and condition discussed,” reads the confirmation letter from Ghulam Ali, addressed to the mahotsav committee.

Ali, who was scheduled to perform in Delhi on November 8, had cancelled his forthcoming shows on Wednesday, saying he did not want to get involved in any kind of politics.

The 74-year-old singer’s son Aamir had earlier said his father did not want to perform after what happened in Mumbai where his scheduled concert last month was cancelled following Shiv Sena’s threat to disrupt it. “The November 8 concert (in Delhi) is not happening now. After what happened in Mumbai, we don’t want to take any risk. The atmosphere should be right for music. We don’t want to get involved in any kind of politics. So much is happening there, it would not be right for us to come at this time,” Aamir had said.

After the cancellation of the Mumbai show, the singer had performed in Lucknow in the first week of October.

DM Lucknow said, the administration will also be getting a video footage from Ghulam Ali that will further confirm his performance on December 3.
