The chief executive officer (CEO) of the Noida authority, Amit Mohan Prasad, on Tuesday directed his staff to expedite the process of issuing occupancy certificate (OC) for a part of the Jaypee Aman housing project, which is four years behind the schedule.

The Jaypee Group had launched the 26-tower housing project in Sector 151 along the Noida Expressway in 2009 and had promised delivery in 2012. However, the builder still needs to deliver around 5,000 flats in this project. The OC to be issued is for six towers.

The CEO’s direction came after homebuyers demanded delivery of flats without further delay.

“The CEO has asked the planning department to issue partial OC for six towers in Jaypee Aman project so that buyers can get their homes,” said Praveen Shrivastava, chief architect and town planner of the authority.

After getting an OC, buyers can officially start moving into their flats.

“We have deposited the Rs6 crore that was holding up issuance of OCs for six towers. Now, we are meeting all officials for follow up so that the partial OC is delivered and homebuyers get their flats,” said Ashok Khera, vice-president, Jaypee Group.

“I cannot say the exact date for delivery of the other flats, but yes, we will do it at the earliest,” said Khera.

Homebuyers also want the Noida authority to build a 55-metre-long approach road to the housing project from the Noida Expressway. The road will enable a smooth commute to and from the society.

“I met additional CEO Atal Kumar Rai and Noida authority chief engineer Hom Singh and asked him to expedite the work on this road so that the project gets connectivity with the Noida Expressway. The chief engineer assured me that the road will be built very soon after completing the tender-related formalities to select a private agency for it” said SK Nagrath, retired army officer and president of the Jaypee Aman apartment owners’ association.
