Some relief: Noida gets 25 new transformers to reduce overload this summer

The transformers are of 400 KVA and 100 KVA capacity and will replace lower capacity transformers. This will not only increase the electricity voltage supplied to consumers, but will also take care of the problem of transformers going phut due to overloading.

Consumers are less likely to face power cuts caused due to overloading of transformers this summer. To reduce burden on overloaded transformers in Noida, the Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL) has got 25 transformers for installation across the city.

The transformers are of 400 KVA and 100 KVA capacity and will replace lower capacity transformers. This will not only increase the electricity voltage supplied to consumers, but will also take care of the problem of transformers going phut due to overloading.

PVVNL superintending engineer Mukul Singhal said as per the directions of the managing director, power corporation, 25 transformers have been sanctioned for Gautam Budh Nagar. “We have already installed two transformers in our urban division-1. The remaining 23 transformers will be installed this week,” he said.

Singhal said these 25 transformers will certainly help a great deal in checking power cuts caused due to overloading of transformers. “The existing transformers are running up to 65% to 70% of their capacity and as the power demand increases in summer, they get overloaded. But with the provision of new transformers, the load on the existing transformers can be reduced,” he said.

Yadav said he is due to get two more transformers of 400 KVA capacity each shortly, which will help improve the power supply further. “There are two more 250 KVA transformers installed in Sector 63 industrial area. The new transformers of higher capacity will take care of the voltage issues in the area,” he said.
