PV Sindhu’s run in the All England Open Badminton Championships came to a crashing halt as she was defeated by World No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying in the quarterfinals on Friday. (HIGHLIGHTS)
The top-seeded player from Chinese Taipei dominated the match from the very beginning and was also to clinch the tie 21-14, 21-10 in around 45 minutes.
PV Sindhu had a slow start to the game, but was able to stage a mini comeback as she took a 7-5 lead over the higher seeded opponent. However, the fight was quite short-lived as Tai Tzu Ying won three points to the trot to take a 11-10 lead at the first game interval.

The match was quite evenly balanced at that point, but it all changed after the break as Tai took a 17-12 lead in no time. PV Sindhu tried to fight back but it was all in vain as the top-seed Chinese Taipei shuttler took the first game 21-14.
The second game was even more one=sided as Tai took a 5-2 lead after winning four consecutive points. Sindhu was let down by her serve on a couple of times in the second game and at the interval, Tai had a comfortable lead of 11-5.

The World No. 1 will now face the winner of the other quarterfinal match between Saina Nehwal and Korea’s Sung Ji Hyun in the semifinals of the competition on Saturday.
