Hidaytullah Khan, former assembly speaker of Bihar and three-time Congress MLA from Harisidhi in East Champaran district died on Tuesday after a brief illness in a private nursing home in Patna, assembly secretariat sources said. He was 80.

Khan is survived by his wife, two sons and four daughters.
Soft-spoken Khan having a degree of Bar at Law, and better known as "Barrister Saheb" was also a minister for food and civil supplies in the ministry of late Bindeshwari Dubey.
Khan was the state assembly speaker from March 27, 1989 to March 19,1990.
Assembly Speaker Udai Narain Choudhry, acting chairman of Vidhan Parishad, Arun Kumar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Leader of the Opposition Rabri Devi condoled his death.

Bihar minister for science and techonolgy Shahid Ali Khan, a close associate of the former assembly speaker said he would be burried at his native village Olaha Pathan Patti in East Champaran district on Wednesday.
