When members of a housing society heard noises coming from a closed flat in Mohammadwadi area, they informed animal welfare associations in the city. It was found that animals were illegally tied inside the flat without food or water. The Kondhwa police then swung into action and arrested a woman in this case.

The arrested woman, Jennifer Denzel D'Souza (26), resided in flat number A203 of the Ganga Kingston in Mohammadwadi. Vanita Asim Tandon (47) had filed the complaint with the Kondhwa police station, according to the Wildlife Protection Act.

Residents of the housing society informed D’Souza about the hungry cats and dog through a phone call. However, no one from the family of the accused came to release the animals.
