The arrested accused has been identified as Sukhwinder Singh. According to police, he was trying to escape from the city when he was arrested from Shimlapuri area.

Meanwhile, Arsh was cremated near Sherpur on Wednesday evening. A resident of Pratap Nagar, 18-year-old Arsh was allegedly stabbed to death by two sons of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Kirpal Singh Sandhu, along with their four accomplices, on Monday night.

Police had arrested four of the six accused - Sandhu's son Satwant Singh Satti, Maninder Chahal, Dara Singh and Inderveer Singh - on Tuesday following protest staged by the kin and relatives of the deceased.
On Wednesday, the deceased's kin again thronged SPS Apollo Hospital and staged a protest against the police. They received backing from MLA Bains.

The family alleged that the police were working under the influence of politicians, adding that the police wanted to release Satti and Jyoti, sons of SAD leader Sandhu, on the pretext of inquiry.

Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) City 2 Bhupinder Singh Sidhu claimed that the police were investigating the matter without any pressure. “We have already arrested five accused and launched a manhunt to arrest Jyoti,” he added.

The police produced the four accused, who were arrested on Tuesday, in court on Wednesday. The court remanded them in two-day police custody. Accused Sukhwinder would be produced before the court on Thursday.
