Even as private dental colleges across Punjab have issued newspaper advertisements announcing that they would fill vacant seats in postgraduate dental course MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) on the basis of their own counselling, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, has made it clear that any admission so made would not be valid, adding that only the university is authorised to admit students.

The varsity has also asked candidates to appear for the extended counselling that it is conducting on Wednesday (June 10). There are 41 MDS seats still vacant across seven dental colleges after the third round of counselling that had concluded on June 4.

“In response to various advertisements appearing in newspapers by private dental colleges, it is informed to the students and parents and directed to the colleges of dental education that none of the colleges shall do counselling and admission to its college on their own.. [sic]. All aspirants who have appeared in AIPGDEE-2015 (All-India PG Dental Entrance Exam) and are desirous for any leftover seats shall be considered in the counselling being held by BFUHS Faridkot only on June 10,” reads the university circular issued on June 8 and was put up on the varsity website.

He also clarified that contrary to the advertisements by the colleges, state medical education and research director had directed the varsity that candidates who had not appeared at the AIPGDEE-2015 were not be considered for admission to MDS.
