Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) here has extended the date for admission to the MBBS and BDS courses by six days from June 19 to June 25. Now the candidates can fill online admission forms by June 22 and the first round of allotment of seats will take place on June 25.

The decision has reportedly been taken because of the pending court cases related to AIPMET and PMET and two medical and three dental colleges still waiting for the renewal of permission from the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Dental Council of India (DCI).

The university has eight medical and 14 dental colleges affiliated to it but, as per the notice uploaded on its official website, two medical colleges, Chintpurni Medical College, Pathankot, and Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Jalandhar, are still waiting for the renewal of permission for the 2015-16 batch. Both the colleges have 300 seats of MBBS.
The three dental colleges that are still waiting for DCI permission have 250 seats of BDS course.

Satpal Singh, joint registrar of BFUHS, said that the varsity had extended the counselling schedule only to facilitate the candidates. "The extension of the schedule is only in the interest of the public and candidates and there is no other reason in it," he said.
