Two Rajasthan residents died while three others were injured in a road accident on the Bathinda-Dabwali road on Sunday night when the car they were travelling in rammed into a stationary tractor trolley laden with timber.

The deceased have been identified as Ramesh Verma, 35, and Deepak Jhangar, 29. One of the three injured Manish Kumar suffered serious injuries while the other two escaped with minor injuries. The five were travelling in Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire car towards Bathinda and were on way to Shimla in Himachal Pradesh when their car rammed into the tractor trolley laden with timber about 18 kilometres from Bathinda at about 1:30 am.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Rajpal at Sangat police station said that the tractor trolley was parked on the road and there was no reflector or other lighting arrangement to make other drivers aware about the vehicle on the road. He said that a case has been registered against the unidentified driver of the tractor trolley for causing death due to negligence. The reason for stopping and parking the tractor trolley on the road would be clear only after the driver's arrest, he said.
