Candidates who have been successful for the posts of junior engineers (JE) and assistant engineers (AE) submitted a request for appointment letters to the director, human resources, of PSPCL head office here on Monday.

The candidates stated that the recruitment process was stayed by the Punjab and Haryana high court on August 8, 2012, on the basis of a petition filed by certain candidates, who could not clear the test.

“Don't punish the genuine candidates for the offense committed by eight candidates,” they said.

They further said that all the selected candidates were being subjected to constant mental trauma since the recruitment process first began in November 2011. The families of the selected candidates were also suffering because of the present stalemate.

Earlier, DGP (Security and Vigilance), PSPCL, Sanjeev Gupta, had carried out an inquiry into the case and had, prima facie, found the entire examination process to have been vitiated. The report had established that most of the successful candidates belonged to Patiala and about 30% or above were related to PSPCL employees. The DIG (Crime) had also in its inquiry report said that some candidates had received help from outside in solving the question papers.
