Meena had applied for bail on February 2 after the Supreme Court granted bail to city-based businessman Sanjay Dahuja, one of the co-accused in the case last month. Submitting the bail application, Meena’s defence counsel had cited the SC order on Dahuja’s bail.

Meena, UT police sub-inspector (SI) Surinder Kumar, Sanjay Dahuja, owner of Berkeley Automobiles, Industrial Area, and Aman Grover, the owner of KLG Hotel, were arrested by the CBI in August last year for allegedly demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs 70 lakh, including Rs 40 lakh in cash and Rs 30 lakh in form of cheques.

The graft was allegedly sought for not arresting the parents and brother of the complainant, Gurneet Kaur, in a case which was being investigated by the economic offences wing (EOW) wing of the UT police.
