The video footage of the wedding venue where a village sarpanch, Ravi Khwajke, was shot dead on Saturday shows four assailants fleeing the venue at Gills Gardens after firing in the air. The footage has been accessed by the police.
An elderly man, besides two other guests, could be seen running for their lives in the footage, as the four assailants, brandishing their pistols, fired in the air.
The footage, lasting 21 seconds, shows the four assailants firing shots brazenly. One of the assailants is initially seen running towards the gate when an elderly man stands bewildered. Another person is seen running towards a car. The remaining three then followed suit and fired indiscriminately in the air before they met their fourth accomplice and exited the venue gate.
Sarpanch of Khwajke village Rajwinder Singh alias Ravi Khawajke was shot dead by four assailants at a marriage palace on February 20. The police have booked nine assailants for the murder and established a gang war as the reason for the murder.
The police are yet to make any arrests in the case. Meanwhile, the police have also moved a plea for production warrant of accused Dharminder Singh Gugni and Karamvir Singh on Monday. Gugni and Karamvir are lodged in jail in separate cases. The police have been suspecting Gugni and Karamvir as mastermind behind the killing. The police are also suspecting that the duo had hatched the conspiracy following old rivalry and executed it through their accomplices. The police have contacted the Moga and Faridkot police for the arrest of the accused as Davinder Shooter and Avtar Singh, two of the accused belong to Moga and Faridkot. Sources said the police have rounded up one of the accused, but the officers have denied the same.
