A resident of Basti Jodhewal, Shivam Arora, ‘stuck’ in Malaysia wrote to the President and the Prime Minister, seeking their intervention. Arora is putting up at the Indian embassy for the past six days.

Arora went to Malaysia on December 7, 2016, after a Jalandhar-based agent charged Rs 2 lakh from him. Another agent in Malaysia has allegedly confiscated his passport.

He has also lodged a complaint against the agent with Jalandhar police, for duping him. An inquiry was marked into the issue by police commissioner of Jalandhar.

“After working in a five star hotel in Srinagar, I wanted to get international exposure. I approached an agent to work in the hotel industry in Malaysia,” he said.

He said he was assured by the agent, who was identified as Jimmy Rajput, that he will get a job in a hotel and could earn Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 in Indian currency. “But after I reached here, I am working in a cold storage unit and getting a meagre amount as salary,” he added.
