Left in confusion after Ludhiana-based Bains brothers, key partners of Navjot Singh Sidhu-led Aawaz-e-Punjab (AeP), forged an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), former Indian hockey skipper MLA Pargat Singh regretted that the duo did this act “secretly”.
“We don’t have any problem with Bains brothers joining the AAP as everyone has his own priorities. But I am sad that Sidhu and I got the news from the media and the two brothers did not inform us about their move,” Pargat, who recently resigned as Jalandhar Cantonment MLA, told Hindustan Times.
Sources close to Pargat said Bains brothers were part of AeP meeting held on November 19 at the residence of Sidhu and they discussed pros of cons of joining the AAP and the Congress.
“Sidhu and I had no reservations over joining the AAP. Nor did Bains brothers ever say anything against the Congress. The idea was to remain intact,” said Pargat.

Sources said, on November 20 too, talks were held among all AeP leaders till afternoon and it was decided to have another meeting with Congress’ poll strategist Prashant Kishore on November 23.

{{/usCountry}}“Bains Brothers played a key role in whatever deliberations were made,” said Pargat.
Meanwhile, there was a buzz in AAP circles on Monday that Pargat is again keen to join the party.
However, a leader close to Pargat termed these reports as “trash and a conspiracy to project the former Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA as a “demoralised” leader.
Though Pargat’s associates are confident that he is likely to join the Congress, but he did not disclose his further move.
“I am scheduled to meet Sidhu on November 23. Let’s see,” Pargat said.
