Baahubali fever doesn’t seem to fade away anytime soon. Amid several Bollywood stars who are appreciating the film, singer Kailash Kher, too, has a reason to feel proud. The 43-year-old, who lent his voice for the song Jay Jay Kara in Baahubali 2, says that he is overwhelmed to be associated with the project of this stature.
Kher, who had earlier sung three songs in Baahubali: The Beginning, shares that he was excited when filmmaker SS Rajamouli invited him to record the song for the sequel. “There was never any pressure on me. In fact, I was overwhelmed and excited that he has asked me to record for such an iconic film again,” he says.
All praise for the film and the kind of craze it has built, Kher adds, “The film has successfully established Indian cinema on the world map, and this is the only film, which talks about Indian culture properly. There’s a lot of Sanskrit in the film that makes it so rich in Indian culture. I am proud to be a part of both the films. Whenever I have sung for the film, the words have given me the feeling of ancient ‘Bharat’. I felt out of the world when I was in the studio, recording the song.”
Interestingly, Kher recorded the song [Jay Jay Kara] in just one hour, and he reveals that Rajamouli asked him to record a few more stanzas because he was so impressed with Kher’s voice. “He did it the last time as well. After the song was recorded, he asked me to add my voice to the chorus. But this time, he became greedier. After he entered the studio and heard the song, he loved it so much that he asked the music director sir (M. M. Keeravani) to record some extra stanzas as well. Obviously, I did that and I had no problems recording some more,” Kher laughs.
