Hebbuli, a Kannada film starring actor Kichcha Sudeep, has been granted U/A certification without any cuts. The film is all set to release on February 23, a day before Maha Shivratri.

Directed by S Krishna, Hebbuli (meaning strong and ferocious tiger) is reportedly based on the Indian army’s surgical strikes in Kashmir last year. Besides Sudeep, who shot to fame with his performance in SS Rajamouli’s Eega/Makkhi (2012), the film also features Amala Paul, V Ravichandran, Kabir Duhan Singh and P Ravi Shankar.
According to a media report, the film has been made on a lavish budget and will release in 300 screens across the state. Hebbuli had a tremendous pre-release buzz, and the makers hope to make Rs 20 crore on the opening day.
There are a lot of things working in the film’s favour. For one, Mukunda Murari – Sudeep’s last film with superstar Upendra – was a hit. Sudeep’s pairing with actor-director ‘Crazy Star’ Ravichandran is also eagerly awaited because their 2014 film Mankiya was well-received by the audience. In Hebbuli, he will play Sudeep’s elder brother.
