Isabella Koval didn’t expect her observation about the stark difference between her and her boyfriend’s Instagram captions to go viral.
On October 9, she tweeted two screenshots of the same picture - one from her Instagram account, another from her boyfriend’s.
“My post vs my boyfriends,” she wrote.
One had the caption “Always a blast [with] my bff”, and her boyfriend Justin’s Instagram upload was captioned “sitting here trying to explain football to this uncultured swine”.
The post seemed to have resonated with couples across social media because the tweet has been retweeted close to 42,600 times and liked 198,000 times since it was posted.

{{/usCountry}}But she soon found out that apparently, she isn’t the only one. There are other couples whose captions of photos shared on social media are like chalk and cheese.
But not everyone took Koval’s boyfriend’s Instagram caption in jest.
“Sorry, but calling your girlfriend an ‘uncultured swine’ is pretty disrespectful. He could have phrased it differently without being a douchebag,” commented Danielle Hartshorn on the BuzzFeed comments section.
Koval told BuzzFeed she was really surprised by the reaction. “People are telling me to dump him,” she said.
“Everyone that knows us thinks those comments are hilarious,” she added.
While the others were busy being entertained, one Twitter user aaliyah @gylvxyz lamented how her boyfriend didn’t post pictures with her. Aricka Jones went on to question her marriage because “not only has my husband never posted a same pic, but I’m pretty sure he hasn’t posted any pic of me”.
Blair Reiter thought it to be unfair that the posts show only men in a bad light.
“How about an example where the guy says something cute and the girl is the one making a joke? How about a gay or lesbian couple?”
