The Raiders have yet to provide an official update regarding Jeanty’s condition or the severity of the injury. Head coach Klint Kubiak is not scheduled to address reporters until Tuesday, leaving the team’s next update uncertain.

The incident occurred after Jeanty attempted to make a catch. His teammates quickly fell silent at the indoor practice facility before the entire team eventually knelt and prayed.

Doctor offers possible Jeanty diagnosis

With no official diagnosis available, health expert Dr. Jesse Morse offered several possibilities for the type of knee injury Jeanty could have suffered. He listed the following potential injuries that would not necessarily end the running back’s season:

"Ashton Jeanty injury possibilities to the knee that are not season ending: Meniscus (not a buckle handle); Tibial plateau fracture; MCL sprain (grade 1, 2); LCL sprain (grade 1); ACL sprain (mild, non-partial tear); PCL sprain (grade 1, 2); Bone bruise… There’s others, but those are the most common," Dr Morse tweeted on X.

"Best case scenario he’s out a couple weeks and he misses W1-2," his tweet mentioned.

Before providing the list of potential injuries, Morse had highlighted the limited information currently available, noting that Jeanty was dealing with a right knee issue and had difficulty putting weight on the leg.

"Concerning to say the least," Morse had mentioned.

Raiders protected Jeanty during preseason

Jeanty was selected sixth overall by the Raiders out of Boise State last year and is coming off a rookie campaign in which he rushed for 975 yards despite playing behind an offensive line that ranked last in the NFL statistically.

According to Pro Football Reference, Jeanty averaged just 1.6 rushing yards before contact per attempt, the third-lowest figure among running backs with more than 100 carries.

The Raiders had also been cautious with Jeanty during the preseason, limiting his workload in an effort to protect one of their key offensive players.

He appeared briefly in the preseason opener against Arizona, recording three carries for 16 yards, before sitting out Thursday’s matchup against Houston.
