“It feels unreal, but it has happened at last. It was stressful and emotionally taxing, but my lawyers were sure that things would be settled soon,” she says, moments after leaving the court.

Shweta had to agree to sign away the couple’s jointly-owned property — a one bedroom flat in Malad worth Rs 93 lakh — to Raja as part of the settlement.

The actor’s lawyers had proposed to give Raja joint ownership (with their daughter Palak) of the property, but he insisted on owning it solely. “I was shocked when Raja said, ‘I will sacrifice my daughter for property. Give me the flat and I will give you a divorce’.”

As per the settlement, Raja cannot approach their daughter, but Shweta is open to letting Palak visit her father if she ever wishes to.

Shweta will be celebrating her newly single status with a grand party in the city on October 12.
