To make things simpler for people, who are miserable at packing light, we ask fashion designers to put together a checklist of versatile summer and winter staples that can work in multiple ways, and allows you to save that baggage allowance for some shopping instead.
Keep it cool
It's easy to pack for summer, since you don't need too many layers of clothing. Linen and cotton clothes in both bright and pastel shades work best for hot climates.
Mix-and-match these staples on your trip:
* Crop top: Team it with a skirt or with wide-legged pants.
* Skirt: Use it with a crop top, shirt or T-shirt.
* Kaftan: Wear it as a dress or a beach cover-up.
* Linen jacket: For the flight, and just in case the weather gets unpredictable.
* Shorts: Repeat a basic pair with multiple tops.
* White dress: Transformable from day to night.
* Scarves: Use it formally as a stole, on the beach as a sarong or just tie it to your bag for some colour.
* Maxi dresses: Light and airy options.
* Dhoti pants: Wear them casually with a top and formally with a light jacket.
* Flip flops and strappy sandals: They are easy to slip on, and airier than closed shoes.

* Solid jacket: Black, burgundy or navy jackets go with everything, and keep you warm.
* Leather pants: They are practical, versatile and chic.
* Stockings: They're easier to carry than heavy denims.
* Scarves: They go with all outfits, and can be styled in multiple ways.
* Boots: They're always chic; plus, you don't get a chance to wear them in Mumbai.
