PM Modi tweeted this after Harappan city Dholavira declared world heritage site
“Absolutely delighted by this news," reads a part of the tweet shared by PM Modi on Harappan city Dholavira that was declared a world heritage site.
Dholavira, the archaeological site of a Harappan-era city, was recently declared a world heritage site by UNESCO. Sprawled over 100 hectares on Khadir, an island in the Rann of Kutch, the city became the 40th Indian site on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. Following the announcement, many took to social media to share various messages, including PM Narendra Modi. In his tweet, he also shared about the first time he visited this place.
The prime minister shared his reaction while commenting on a post by UNESCO. “Absolutely delighted by this news. Dholavira was an important urban centre and is one of our most important linkages with our past. It is a must visit, especially for those interested in history, culture and archaeology,” he wrote. In the same thread, PM Nadrandra Modi also added, “I first visited Dholavira during my student days and was mesmerised by the place. As CM of Gujarat, I had the opportunity to work on aspects relating to heritage conservation and restoration in Dholavira. Our team also worked to create tourism-friendly infrastructure there.”
